October 1, 2001 The cloned plants are ready 10 and a half months after planting the rootstock liners in the field, or 6 months after budding. The scaffold branches are fully developed and the leaves dark green in color. The time required for producing cloned plants varies as a function of the period of the year when the rootstock liners are taken to the field. Commonly it takes 3 to 6 months until budding, and 3 to 6 months after budding, with a total of 9 to 12 months, for orange or tangerine tops budded on Rangpur lime. Trifoliate-type rootstocks usually require adittional 2 to 6 months. |
